I Just Updated My Garmin Venu 3 to Beta Version 15.01 — Here’s What You Should Know
If you’re like me and enjoy being on the frontlines of tech updates, here’s some fresh Garmin news: Beta update 15.01 just dropped for the Venu 3, Venu 3S, and Vivoactive 5.
I installed it this morning, and I wanted to share what’s new and what to expect, especially if you’re thinking of trying it out yourself.
Garmin Venu 3 Beta 15.01: My Hands-On Experience
Okay, let’s be honest — this update isn’t packed with flashy new features. But that doesn’t mean it’s not important. If you’re like me and use your Venu 3 every day for workouts, sleep tracking, or just keeping an eye on your health, even the little improvements can make a big difference.
One of the fixes in this update is for an issue with downloaded golf courses. Now, I’m not a golfer myself (so I haven’t tested that part), but I know a lot of Garmin users are, and it sounds like this bug was pretty frustrating for some. If you’ve ever been out on the course and had the map glitch out on you, this should hopefully fix that.
Even though it doesn’t affect me directly, I still like seeing Garmin fix stuff that users have reported. It shows they’re paying attention — and that gives me more confidence in the device I wear every day.
What’s New in Beta 15.01?
This update isn’t packed with flashy features, but it focuses on polishing up the experience. Here’s what Garmin says is included:
✅ Golf course bug fix – If you’ve ever had trouble loading downloaded golf courses (yep, I’ve been there), this should fix it.
🧘 Breathing variation improvements – For those of us who use the mindfulness or sleep tracking features, this one’s all about better accuracy.
🔐 Device passcode updates – Small tweaks to security and how your watch handles passcodes.
Honestly, I like seeing updates like this—they may be under-the-hood. However, they show Garmin is still actively refining the Venu 3 series experience.
How I Updated My Venue 3
If you want to try the beta, it’s super easy to check for it manually:
Just go to:
Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check for Updates
Once I hit “Check,” version 15.01 started downloading in a few seconds.
Heads-up: Installing the beta will temporarily turn off ECG features on your watch. Not ideal if you rely on that regularly, so you should wait for the stable release.
How to Enroll in Garmin’s Public Beta Program
I’ve been in Garmin’s public beta program for a while now, and it’s been great for early access to fixes and features. If you want to join, here’s how:
- Sign in to your Garmin Connect account (on a computer, not the app).
- Click the watch icon in the top-right corner.
- Select your device.
- Choose Join Beta Software Program
- Accept the terms and you’re in!
Once you enroll, you’ll get future beta updates automatically.
Final Thoughts
While this isn’t a game-changing update, I always appreciate the minor improvements, especially when they fix things like golf course syncing (which drove me up the wall last month).
And if you like testing things early, like I do, the beta program is a fun way to stay ahead of the curve.
As always, I’ll keep an eye out for any bugs or feedback and update you if anything significant pops up in this release.
Have you updated yet? Drop a comment and let me know how it went for you, or if you’re still on the fence about joining the beta program.
